West and North Center reception services temporarily merge at Efstaleiti

The West Center will operate out of Austurstræti 8-10 for the last time on Friday, June 5. Beginning that day, Efstaleiti 1 will temporarily host reception services for both the West Center and North Center. All other West Center operations are relocating to Borgartún 12-14 by Friday.

As one of four centers in Reykjavík, the West Center employs about 90 staff members who provide services, info, support, and counseling in welfare, education, and leisure. The Online Center also runs under the West Center and typically serves as the first point of contact for service users. Like the other centers, the West Center prioritizes professional practice and works closely with residents, community groups, and local institutions.

The West Center is moving to Borgartún 12-14, a facility where Reykjavík City already provides a wide range of services. Having progressed over several weeks, the relocation is mostly complete, with a large share of operations already running at the new site. The relocation should wrap up this week.

Plans call for the center's reception area to be shared with Reykjavík City's service center on the ground floor. Construction is currently in progress. Because of this, the West Center and North Center service desks will temporarily combine at Efstaleiti for the next few months.

The East Center moved to a new location earlier this year. Although long based at Gylfaflöt, the center now operates from Bíldshöfði 20.

All centers across the city keep the same hours, remaining open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
